Simon Clark is a freelance composer, organist and pianist. He was born in England, but soon left for Australia and then Tasmania, returning to the UK some years later. He now lives in Guildford, Surrey and devotes a considerable amount of his time to composition.
Composing
Simon published his first piece of music at the age of 16, and has continued as an in-house composer for Kevin Mayhew Publishers since then. He went on to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
Since then, he has received commissions from music festivals, orchestras and ensembles across the country. In 2002 the Tilling Ensemble performed a special piece at the acclaimed Rye Festival commemorating the events of 9/11. The ensemble returned in 2004 to premiere his Haiku Sketches.
The London Primavera Orchestra has performed his work on a number of occasions. In the summer of 2005 they premiered his Serenade for Clarinet and Strings.

Organ playing
Most recently, Simon was Organist at Pollokshields Church in central Glasgow, where he directed and accompanied the choir on the magnificent three manual Harrison & Harrison organ. Formerly, he was Assistant Organist at Farm Street Church, Mayfair, London. He has played at many English cathedrals and also at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. He has given recitals abroad, most notably at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Salt Lake City, USA. Simon is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO).
Piano playing
During his time in Scotland he was pianist at Gleneagles Hotel. For many years he was Resident Pianist and Organist at Ashdown Park Hotel, Sussex. He is available to play for weddings, parties and corporate events.
Teaching
Simon has a huge amount of experience in teaching piano, organ, and music theory. He teaches adults as well as children.
